Classes in NCR suspended due to possibility of heavy rain
Classes in Metro Manila from preschool to high school in private and public schools were suspended early Tuesday due to heavy rain since Monday night.
The Department of Education said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration had indicated the possibility of heavy rain early Tuesday.
“Para makasiguro sa kaligtasan ng estudyante at mag-aaral, suspendido ang klase sa Metro Manila (sa) kinder, elementary at high school levels both public and private schools (So we can ensure the safety of students, we decided to suspend classes in Metro Manila in the kinder, elementary and high school levels in public and private schools)," DepEd NCR assistant director Rizalino Rosales said in an interview on dzBB radio before 4 a.m.
Heavy rain had fallen on parts of Metro Manila since Monday night. PAGASA had said this was due to the southwest monsoon.
Rosales said their consultations with PAGASA indicated the rains may be heaviest between 5 and 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said two gates of Ipo Dam were opened due to heavy rain.
